Ready to Scale
Gayler Design Build, a long-term Portable CIO client, was expanding and planning a move to new and larger office space. Gayler’s primary goal was to have an IT infrastructure that would scale with future growth. They wanted new scalable network architecture; upgraded, scalable computer workstations; and, email services that would accommodate their growing needs. Although, their internal IT staff had a good grasp on what needed to be done, Gayler needed Portable CIO to manage the process and provide labor for the physical move. With a reputation for delivering projects on time and on budget, Gayler did not want the move to disrupt their employees’ deliverables.
Portable CIO performed a detailed site assessment of their old and new offices. Based on a floor plan for the new office space, Portable CIO designed a network infrastructure that would be easy to manage and would easily accommodate future needs. The new network accommodated both voice and data services while keeping them separated for ease of management.
Taking into consideration Gayler’s employees’ work habits, Portable CIO provided wired and wireless access. Guests had access to a segregated wireless network. A sub-tenant sharing Gayler’s physical space was provided with a separate network system that they could manage and support. Portable CIO worked with third-party vendors to manage installation of the internet circuit and a new phone system. They also procured, configured, and installed all new network hardware and upgraded computer workstations.
In order to accommodate their needs for a scalable email platform, Portable CIO migrated Gayler to Microsoft’s Office 365 Hosted Exchange email service. This gave Gayler the advantage of a well-managed, secure email service that would keep pace with their growth.
Ready, Set, Work
On the day of the actual move, Portable CIO consultants moved all hardware to the new location and got everything ready for opening day. PCIO managed all the details of the move, consulting with Gayler staff as needed. This alleviated the need for Gaylor’s IT staff to project manage the work. Gayler’s employees were able to focus on their customers and deadlines.
